We are looking for a new student spring/summer co-op to join our Rockford, IL team! The candidate will provide manufacturing engineering support to operations in an FAA repair station performing maintenance, repair and overhaul of aerospace products, primarily ram air turbines, electric power generation and actuation systems hardware. They will also interface daily with mechanics, test operators, and operations support staff while supporting the engineering team in daily actions.

This position is for a Mechanical Engineering Co-op with a passion to learn about and gain experience in the manufacturing engineering and repair and overhaul Aviation industry.

This position is onsite in Rockford, IL. This co-op will run January to early August.

What You Will Do:

  • You will support lead/senior engineers with projects and daily tasks supporting the repair station.

  • You will provide daily support to repair mechanics and test operators

  • You will do tooling design and procurement

  • You will do creation and maintenance of 3D printed tool management system

  • You will do creation and maintenance of repair documentation including job instruction sheets, procedures, and packaging instruction.

  • Design and implementation of tooling shadow boards throughout the repair station.

What You Will Learn:

  • You will be provided access to Collin’s Aerospace communities of practice for learning and networking opportunities

  • The engineering requirements of supporting a FAA repair station and returning commercial and military aircraft products to service.

  • Aerospace design and test standards and how they apply to Repair and Overhaul.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Previous Engineering intern experience.

  • Experience with CAD systems.

  • Familiarity with 3D printing.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
