Job Description

Position Summary:

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is currently seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for scientific research to join our team as a Production Scientist I in Antibody Production and Custom Services. Responsibilities:

  • Perform antibody production, purification and testing processes, ensuring flawless execution and adherence to quality standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to successfully implement new manufacturing processes and techniques.

  • Implement production plans and closely monitor key performance indicators to ensure achievement of targets.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to maintain a continuous and efficient workflow.

  • Strictly adhere to standard operating procedures and safety protocols.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of all experiments and production activities.

  • Commit to producing and maintaining the highest standard of quality in antibody production

  • Ensure timely delivery of production work and projects

  • Perform with assistance of batch records, standard work instructions, operating procedures or shadowing with a trained associate:

  • Protein isolation and purification

  • Chromatography (affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion). FPLC experience advantageous

  • Protein modification (cross linking, fluorescent, protein and small molecule conjugations)

  • Protein lyophilization

  • Carrier protein conjugations with peptides or fusion proteins

  • Antibody purification / modification experience

  • Antibody validation via various functional tests, i.e. WB / ELISA / IHC / IP / IF / FACS

  • SDS-PAGE

  • Small and large scale buffer preparations

  • Protein/enzyme assays

  • UV / VIS Spectrophotometry measurements

  • Set up and take down of labware

  • Maintain accurate inventory. Assist the manufacturing support associate and/or material handling in cycle counting or physical inventory as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field, such as Biology or a related area.

  • Proven experience in antibody production, purification and immunoassay techniques advantageous.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, goal-oriented setting.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Illinois is $25.00–$30.00.
