Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Attorney/Lawyer in Rock Island, Illinois. This role involves practicing criminal law in a law office setting, with a focus on prosecution work. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex legal issues and providing legal advice to clients. This is a permanent position, allowing for long-term growth and development within our legal team.
Responsibilities:
• Provide legal advice to clients on matters related to criminal law
• Represent clients in court and negotiate settlements
• Conduct research to support legal proceedings and to formulate a defense or initiate legal action
• Analyze and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses
• Draft legal documents including briefs, pleadings, appeals, agreements, contracts, and legal memoranda
• Keep updated with the latest industry trends, regulations, and legislation in criminal law
• Develop strategies to handle cases from inception through high-level settlement negotiations or trial
• Collaborate with legal staff to ensure smooth case management
• Advocate for the rights of clients in criminal cases
• Handle prosecution work diligently and professionally. Requirements • Possession of a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Must be a licensed attorney and in good standing with any U.S. state bar.
• Demonstrable experience in criminal law.
• Proficiency in prosecuting or defending clients in criminal court cases.
• Familiarity with legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
• Strong understanding of legal procedures and protocols, as well as court systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to interface at all levels of the organization and with external entities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
• Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Proven experience in managing a variety of legal matters in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in using law office management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement legal strategies and procedures.
• Strong ethical and professional standards.
