ABOUT THE ROLE: This position is responsible for leading technical teams in research and product development of powder metal printers and systems, primarily for DoD contracts. In addition, this position will be responsible for providing program leadership to cross-organizational matrixed teams during new product development projects and the sustaining of products in production. The Engineering Program Manager will provide overall Government Contract and Program Management oversight Location:San Diego, CA or Rock Hill, SC WHAT YOU’LL DO: * Coordinate with DoD agencies as the Principal Investigator, including documentation and reporting. * Lead the establishment of the development program schedule with support and collaboration from the cross functional development team (hardware (ME and EE) engineering, firmware engineering, software engineering, material formulators, print process engineers, product management, product marketing, procurement, manufacturing, etc.). * Lead the product development team through both the government development process and 3D Systems’ Product Development Process (PDP), as well as Phase Gate presentations. * Maintain and communicate project & product budget and schedule status and outlook across the development project from ideation, product launch, and post-launch sustaining. Ensure timely submission of program invoices to accounts receivable and submission to customers for contract expense rebilling. * Coordinate development activities to ensure collaboration, transparency, and remove barriers to team progress. * Make significant technical contributions as a senior technical advisor while managing cross functional engineering teams and programs. Perform risk analysis, identify risk areas and develop alternate plans and/or risk mitigation measures. * Stay closely assigned with the Product Manager to understand and communicate development priorities and to create supporting plans. * Ensure timely submission of periodic program progress reports consistent with government contract requirements; internally support the Product Manager in preparing for reviews with executives and stakeholders by gathering data, creating review presentations, and occasionally presenting program updates. * Coordinate with 3D Systems’ broader technical management team to advance Company technology. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Education / Training * Bachelor’s degree in Electro/Mechanical/Aerospace or Systems Engineering is required; M.Sc. in Engineering and/or Engineering Management is preferred. * DoD Program Management Level II or higher Certifications or Equivalent Preferred * DoD Program/Contract Management experience Qualifications / Experience: * Must have a proven track record of managing government contractual projects, reporting finances, program technical status and schedules to Government Program Manager. * 5-8 years’ experience in program management of complex new electro-mechanical device development, software projects, or material development projects / product development projects. * 10 years of direct experience in managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams is required. * 5 years of experience as a Sr. Electro/Mechanical/FW or Systems Engineer * This position requires access to information under government contract access restrictions. Due to the requirements of this position, the selected incumbent must be qualified to access, and implement and maintain access restrictions on, Controlled Unclassified Information at restriction levels including NOFORN. * Experience in either 3D printing and Metal 3D printing products is a plus. * Current or past security clearance preferred.
