St. John Fisher College Security Shift Supervisor in Rochester, New York

Overview:

St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students each year. Job Responsibilities:

• Supervises officers, dispatchers, shuttle drivers and temporary help on his/her shift (20%);

• Performs all security functions and patrols(10%);

• Provide aid and assistance in emergencies (2%);

• Respond to, investigate and prepare reports on criminal complaints, fire alarms, injuries, accidents and illnesses (10%);

• Lock and unlock campus buildings as required (10%);

• Provide traffic/parking control of vehicles on campus; provide security escorts to students, staff and faculty when requested (10%);

• Helps maintain smooth flow of traffic (2%);

• Enforces local, state, and federal laws and college regulations (25%);

• Investigates all fire alarms, and boiler alarms (2%);

• Renders first aid in emergencies (2%);

• Orders transport for injured to hospital (2%);

• Unlocks and secures buildings as required. (5%);

• Performs other duties as required.

Education / Experience:

Associate Degree in Criminal Justice preferred; or combination of education and experience. Must be New York State Security Guard trained and registered. Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in security/public safety. Must have working knowledge of New York State Penal and Traffic codes and be familiar with approved safety and security standards for college security. Prior military or law enforcement experience is strongly desired.

Competencies / Skills:

Above average interpersonal skills in both verbal and written communications.

Supervision of Employees:

Supervises officers, dispatchers, shuttle drivers and temporary help on his/her shift.

Work Hours:

40 hours per week on a 4/2 – 5/2 rotating schedule, 12 months a year. Must be able to work a shift work wheel that includes holidays, weekends and special University functions.

3:00 pm – 11:00 pm
