Description

The Department of Medicine, Clinical Cardiovascular Research Center (CCRC) at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry is seeking a Research Assistant Professor of Medicine in cardiovascular research. The initial principal responsibilities will involve working with a wide variety of researchers and trainees in the CCRC and Cardiology Division. The CCRC has long-standing strengths in cardiovascular clinical research focused on cardiac arrhythmias, sudden cardiac death, heart failure, electrocardiology and related fields with increasing interest in large data management and analyses.

This position requires a doctoral degree with multidisciplinary training background in clinical, population, and epidemiological sciences. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail oriented, and possess good interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills. The candidate must have experience with clinical study designs, longitudinal data and large cohort data analyses using state-of-the art techniques. The position requires experience with statistical analysis and programming languages (e.g., R; SAS) and a history of success as an author on peer-reviewed, biomedical research studies. Experience in GWAS and GWAS meta-analysis and mendelian randomization analysis is welcomed. Responsibilities will include analysis and presentation of data, leading research teams and overseeing the work of mentees such as fellows and students, facilitating the integration of patient-oriented data with clinical and biologic data, overseeing data management and quality of data, extracting and interpreting data from electronic medical records and chart review, supporting larger investigative efforts by facilitating administration of activities and generating pilot data for NIH and other collaborative grants. There would be some expectation to develop independent research and apply for funding as principal or co-investigator to support the overall growth of the CCRC and other collaborations.

Qualifications

Ph.D. Degree or equivalent

Eligible for a faculty appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
