Purpose:

Under the direction of, and in partnership with, the Director, People Operations & Engagement (Director), the People Operations Business Partner (Business Partner) is a key contributor to the People Operations team. Together, along with the Director and other Business Partners, this position plays a pivotal role in creating, implementing, and maintaining operational programming and daily activities to meet organizational needs under the pillar of People and Culture. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to talent acquisition, workforce development, training and learning, employee development, and the employee experience.

Business Partners require a collaborative spirit, positive outlook, and drive to enhance the employee experience. The Director will distribute work fairly amongst the team, with efforts to best match individual strengths and areas of interest. This position is based in office with some flexibility for remote work.

    Detail of Key Job Responsibility Areas

    Talent Acquisition – In partnership and collaboration with the Director and other Business Partners, the People Operations Business Partners will be responsible for engaging, recruiting, and onboarding new talent. Together, the team will:

  • Prepare and manage assigned job postings as openings occur and in accordance with established job descriptions criteria/legal requirements.

  • Screen resumes and forward appropriate resumes to hiring managers for review.

  • Schedule interviews with candidates.

  • Notify candidates who are not selected.

  • Complete reference checks.

  • Prepare offers of employment for selected candidates.

    Workforce Development – In partnership and collaboration with the Director and other Business Partners, the People Operations Business Partner will help implement and operationalize the organization’s workforce development plan and management of daily operations. Together, the team will:

  • Develop and manage internal and external partnerships and initiatives to support organizational efforts that enhance the employment pipeline and provide professional development for current employees, volunteers, and interns. Relationships include schools, colleges and universities, association groups, community-based organizations, CHCANYS, AIDS Institute, and others.

  • Build and maintain partnerships, programs, and opportunities to support workforce development within the organization and community at large.

  • Schedule and implement workforce development activities.

  • Help identify clinical, program, and service opportunities that will provide student and volunteer experiences as a pipeline to possible future employment with the organization.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with career and training programs, advisers, and students placed with Trillium Health.

  • Participate in career fairs and on campus opportunities to engage with staff and students for placement opportunities as needed.

  • Develop an understanding of program requirements and expectations.

  • Build strong relationships at all levels within the organization.

  • Work with other Business Partners and department leaders to match volunteers and students with appropriate opportunities to ensure program requirements are met.

  • Conduct check-ins with volunteers, interns, and students to increase engagement and alignment to Trillium Health.

    Training and Learning – In partnership and collaboration with the Director and other Business Partners, the People Operations Business Partner will help create, implement, and maintain training and development programming to meet organizational needs. Together, the team will:

  • Develop curriculum and deliver trainings required for compliance and other trainings appropriate for developing and/or enhancing employee knowledge, skills, performance, productivity, and quality of work.

  • Develop and conduct annual needs assessments with program and business owners to identify current and future training needs across the organization that align with strategic priorities.

  • Collaborate with managers/supervisors to build out position-specific training for new employees.

  • Oversee and manage annual and new employee compliance trainings.

  • Organize training rooms/venues and logistics to achieve efficient and effective training and ensure a method for tracking attendance.

  • Manage and maintain training schedules, ensuring that they are up-to-date, accurate and are communicated to participants and management in a timely manner.

  • Link training material to relevant business situations to illustrate real life examples.

  • Maintain knowledge of the organization’s current services and programs and manage updates to training program content.

  • Assess the effectiveness of delivered training by administering assessments.

    Employee Development – In partnership and collaboration with the Director and other Business Partners, the People Operations Business Partner will help create, implement, and maintain employee development initiatives. Together, the team will:

  • Develop and deliver continuing supervisory skills and management education for existing supervisors/managers.

  • Develop and deliver supervisory education for new supervisor/managers.

  • Develop and deliver a curriculum for individuals who wish to advance their careers into management.

  • Develop and deliver various trainings for students, interns, and employees, with a focus on soft and hard skills enhancement.

  • Identify certificate and other programs appropriate for Trillium positions to support staff with career advancement.

  • Work with department leadership and direct supervisors to create individual development plans.

    Employee Experience and Engagement – In partnership and collaboration with the Director and other Business Partners, the People Operations Partner will help implement and operationalize the organization’s employee experience and engagement plans. Together, the team will:

  • Implement and monitor employee engagement programs and initiatives across the agency .

  • Oversee and run new employee orientation.

  • Implement action plans based on survey results, reviews, engagement sessions, and/or one-on-one meetings, and other forums.

  • Manage programs designed to foster engagement, such as rewards and recognition programs and any other programs or activities that result in a healthy workplace culture.

  • Develop and maintain programming with a focus on employee retention to reduce turnover, increase productivity, and enhance the employee experience.

  • Contribute to the development of the organization’s culture and maintain positive relationships between employees and the organization.

  • Act as ambassadors of the One Trillium iCare Values and provide iCare training.

  • Work closely with talent acquisition/onboarding team to ensure engagement strategies are embedded in recruitment and onboarding strategies.

  • Conduct check-ins with employees. Compile data, monitor trends, and provide feedback to leadership.

  • Conduct exit interviews. Compile data, monitor trends, and provide feedback to leadership.

  • Lead with a listening ear and counsel employees on personnel, human relations, and work-related problems that adversely affect morale, health, and productivity.

  • Oversee and run the Employee Engagement Work Group

  • Assist with the planning and execution of staff events and activities:

  • Help oversee the planning and execution of company-wide events including the Post-Holiday Party, Staff Appreciation Events, Years of Service Awards, Halloween Party and others.

  • Help with the planning and execution of Spirit Team and other pop-up events.

  • Develop strategies to improve staff participation and attendance at internal and community-based events where Trillium has a central role.

  • Internal communication initiatives:

  • In collaboration with Marketing develop internal communication and messaging including company updates, new staff and organizational change announcements, raffles, giveaways, trivia, etc.

  • Oversee the maintenance of the People Operations SharePoint/intranet page.

    Miscellaneous – The position of People Operations Business Partner:

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in human resources, with 5 years’ experience preferred. Will consider other relevant field experience with ample knowledge and relatable expertise. Must be interested in working for a mission-based, non-profit community health care organization.

    Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Occasionally the employee must stoop, bend and lift or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
