Description

The Laboratory Directorship with a MS in Medical Management position at the University of Rochester Medical Center is a two-year program that provides in-depth and hands on clinical, administrative, teaching and research experience in laboratory management, medical directorship, and administration. Additional formal education in medical management will be accomplished with completion of a masters of Science program in business administration. The main objective of the program is to provide the fellow with the background and skills to take on administrative roles in laboratory medicine in both private and academic settings. Upon completion the fellow should be proficient in regulatory oversight and credentialing of laboratories, laboratory inspection, quality assurance and quality management, finance and budgeting, creation of a business plan, instrument validation and selection, administrative functions of laboratory medical directors at the hospital and system level, strategic planning, laboratory standardization in systems, laboratory operations, laboratory information technology, laboratory utilization, and be familiar with laboratory billing and coding as well as government and private payer structures.

Number of appointments: One position is available each academic year

Qualifications

Requirements: Applicants must be board-certified or eligible in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and be eligible for a license to practice medicine in New York State.

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
