Job Description Summary

The Assistant Coach is responsible for working with the Head Coach in all aspects of the program including but not limited to recruiting & retention of student-athletes, practice planning, game strategy, scouting, fundraising and alumni relations. Individuals must have an understanding of all pertinent NCAA rules governing the sport. Must have a commitment to the Division III philosophy and be able to work within the philosophy and mission of the Athletics Department.

Essential Functions

Assist the Head Coach in all aspects of management of the team. Required to maintain positive relationships with the Head Coach, administration and team members, and provide an atmosphere of learning and development in all areas assigned. Also will be responsible to teach various skill sets and techniques in practice. Individual may be responsible for team decisions and actions at times when the Head Coach is not present, including practice sessions or team travel.

Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Prior Coaching or Playing Experience

• Must Possess a NY State Driver’s License

  Preferred Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills

• Master’s degree is preferred

• 5+ years of coaching or playing experience

  Supervisory Responsibilities

• This position will oversee select student-athletes based on instructions from the head coach

  Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit, stand and walk.

• This position requires candidates to be able to demonstrate skills on the field.

  Equipment to be used

• University vehicles

• Equipment associated with the respective sport
