Duties and Responsibilities
Design and construct equipment in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team for school and/or residential programs
Repair, modify, and maintain equipment such as adaptive equipment, classroom equipment, environmental equipment, etc.
Purchase any necessary supplies for projects
Maintain and organize all equipment, materials and supply cabinets within the workshop and spray room areas
Consult with Agency personnel regarding the development of adaptive equipment and environmental modifications
Assist in the transportation of materials
Perform the annual inspection of equipment such as swing hook mounts, playground equipment, etc.
Supervise workshop personnel in the Multi-Media Department, completing interviews and training when necessary
Plan and assign projects
All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English including interpreting documents such as safety rules and policy and procedure manuals
5-10 years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Possess a current and valid NYS drivers license with an acceptable driving record
Must be at least 18 years of age
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialized training in woodworking, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, metal and plastics or sketching from a college or technical school
