Compensation Range:

$96,860.00 - $145,290.00

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Manages and provides design oversight for a team of engineers and specialists for engineering projects in support of LLE and the Omega Laser Facilities. Provides full range of controls services in all phases of research and development. The LLE Electronics and Controls Engineering group is seeking a team manager in the controls section with a principal focus on control systems hardware and cable infrastructure, and responsibilities for software and process development as well.

Team primary responsibilities include:

Fabrication, testing, maintenance, and support of SCADA based systems

Provide timely support of service level requests

Interfaces with projects & PI's

Serves as ECE project manager for lab projects

Installation and integration of equipment into the facilities

Monitoring and support of experimental equipment to facilitate shots

Interface with external vendors

Evaluates obsolescence issues with installed base of equipment and identifies/recommends path forward

Team Manager responsibilities include:

  • Tracking performance and overall progress of assigned work

  • Assisting section manager with resource loading

  • Identifying and communicating capital equipment needs

  • Hiring committee representation

  • Assisting group leader and section manager with project-level work assignments

  • Assigning and scheduling service level work

  • Ensuring the time-reporting records are current and accurate

  • Scheduling hours and providing vacation request recommendations

  • Manager's commitments to their direct reports includes:

  • Regular communication to provide feedback and facilitate progress of deliverables

  • Collaborative career path development

  • Co-development and tracking of goals

  • Providing annual performance evaluations

Knowledge & Experience

Bachelor's degree in controls, mechanical or electrical engineering and seven (7) years of engineering experience required, OR equivalent combination of education and experience

Demonstrated intensive application of engineering principles in the practical solution of engineering problems required

Demonstrated knowledge of engineering mathematics and the fundamental principles of engineering design

Broad understanding and experience in other engineering disciplines required

Stay abreast of current code and security requirements for SCADA systems
