Job Description:

Highland Hospital a 261 bed community teaching hospital and affiliate of the University Of Rochester Medical Center is recruiting for experienced Labor & Delivery Surgical Technologists to join our Family Maternity Center.

The Family Maternity Center has 10 labor beds, 30 post-partum beds, and a special care nursery, care for higher risk situations and are known for its outstanding care and Rochester’s most newborns each year.

The Labor and Delivery Surgical Technologist II is a member of the surgical team who works with surgeons, anesthesiologist, registered nurses, and other personnel to deliver quality patient care before, during and after surgery as well as assumes other appropriate unit responsibilities.

PAY RANGE: $25.50 - $28.90

*The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Job Requirements:

  1. Education: Fulfills the educational requirements for completion of a nationally and NYS accredited educational program for surgical technologists and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA); or is otherwise qualified per the NYS Public Health Law (i.e., candidate provides evidence that he/she worked as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to the effective date of January 1, 2015; candidate provides evidence of completing a military surgical technology program).

  2. Experience: 1 full year of Surgical Technician in a Labor and Delivery setting highly desirable.

  3. License/Certification Required: American Heart Association BLS CPR Certification required; certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization (unless otherwise qualified per the NYS Public Health Law)

  4. Skills: Aseptic Technique and in-depth knowledge of surgical equipment highly desirable. Good communication, positive attitude, team-player. Ability to maintain composure in stressful and/or emergency situations.
