Monroe Community College Human Resources Representative, Part-time in Rochester, New York

Function of Position:

This position involves processing pre-employment onboarding paperwork and maintaining personnel records. The part- time HR Representative reports directly to, and work is performed under the general supervision of, an administrative or supervisory employee. Performs related work as required.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Welcomes and assists staff, students and visitors to the Human Resources Office

  • Provides support of phones, triage of department email boxes, and office mail

  • Supports staff in recruitment processes by verifying I-9s, scheduling interviews, canvassing, communicating with search chairs and candidates, processing part-time workflows, and managing new hire report notifications

  • Processes new hire workflows, data sheets and onboarding paperwork, collaborating with other Human Resources staff members and Payroll staff members, as needed

  • Researches and responds to personnel-related questions via email/phone/in-person appointment and/or walk-ins

  • Assists in scheduling new hire benefit meetings

  • Performs clerical functions and data entry

  • Audits/verifies personnel information for accuracy and required reporting

  • Generates computerized reports and processes electronic personnel-related forms using, for example, Banner (the College's HRIS), Dynamic Forms, and Adobe

  • Implements and maintains best practices, policies and procedures in human resources to ensure consistency, equity, and accuracy

  • Fosters a culture that promotes collaboration, belonging, and mutual respect among employees

    Job Requirements:

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Working knowledge of basic arithmetic operations; working knowledge of office terminology, practices, procedures, and equipment; ability to sort, arrange, and file material alphabetically or numerically; ability to locate materials in files; ability to operate a variety of office equipment; ability to follow oral or written instructions; ability to deal effectively with the public or office personnel; ability to obtain accurate and sufficient information from callers or visitors and to take messages; ability to write legibly; ability to use a telephone in a courteous and efficient manner; record keeping ability; clerical aptitude; accuracy; tact and courtesy; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma

NOTE: Where education is lacking, clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office software including, Microsoft Teams, Word and Excel

  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Job Type: Temporary, Part-time

Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week. Hours/Days may vary depending on department need

Pay Rate: $17 to $20 per hour depending on experience.
