Financial Analyst

Summary Purpose for the Position

The Financial Analyst is responsible for analysis and reporting of financial activities. Works directly with department managers to identify and resolve financial accounting, reporting, and budget discrepancies. Provides comprehensive accounting, fiscal oversight and grant administration. The position is responsible for audit preparation, funding source reporting, budget review/revision with program staff, and provision of fiscal technical assistance to program managers and field staff.

Requirements (Education, Experience, Certification, Knowledge, Skill)

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or relevant field and two or more years’ experience in accounting preferred.

Advanced information-processing skills with the ability to research and analyze information from a variety of sources.

Fund accounting software and advanced experience with computer spreadsheets.

Familiar with Microsoft Office suite and Adobe.

MIP familiarity valued highly.

Position Responsibilities

Designs financial reports and spreadsheets as needed.

Identifies trends and variances, resolves budgeting discrepancies and assists with year-end projections and reports for year-end fiscal meetings.

Makes recommendations on spending trends and cost savings areas.

Problem solves financial issues for department managers.

Develops operating budgets for department cost centers, account analysis, financial reporting, and error correction. Performs analyses necessary to ascertain integrity of accounting data, account balances and timeliness of reports. Makes day-to-day interpretations and decisions on financial transactions.

Contract management, including internal and external financial reporting to multiple local, state, and federal funding sources.

Maintains and oversees grant receivables and payables. Prepares and submits reimbursement/advance requests to funding sources.

Set-up of general ledger chart of accounts and project codes.ition will work closely with and provide oversight and direction to staff, finance staff, agency auditors, and board committees.

Must be able to identify and communicate trends and projections, and initiate corrective measures.

Reviews budgets and monitors expenses.Bank Reconciliations.

Prepares financial records for audit. utilization of MIP report writer capabilities for data extraction/retrieval/reporting.

Performs all other duties as assigned.
