O'Connell Electric Company Estimator-Utility Electrical Construction in Rochester, New York

O’Connell Electric’s Estimators are responsible for producing comprehensive estimates for utility, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. Your primary responsibility will be to accurately assess project requirements, evaluate costs, and provide competitive bids to secure projects. Estimators collaborate closely with project managers and other electrical construction professionals to develop accurate and timely estimates and support the development of complete project proposals.Core Responsibilities:Review project plans, specifications, and blueprints to gain a comprehensive understanding of electrical requirements.Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and potential challenges as appropriate.Collaborate with project managers and engineers to determine project scope and objectives.Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Utilize estimating software and tools to ensure accurate and competitive bids.Consider factors such as permits, inspections, and potential change orders when calculating project costs.Solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors and negotiate pricing agreements. Prepare detailed and persuasive proposals for clients, highlighting the value and competitiveness of the company's services.Present proposals to clients and participate in post-bid interviews to secure contracts. Identify potential risks and challenges related to electrical construction projects and propose mitigation strategies.Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact project costs. Maintain accurate records of all estimates, proposals, and project-related documentations. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful project execution. QualificationsDegree in electrical engineering or construction management, or trade experience is preferred but not always required. At least three years of experience estimating or other relevant experience in closing construction estimates.Proficiency in construction estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and regulations. Excellent analytical and mathematical skills. Effective communication and negotiation skills. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Familiarity with industry trends, market conditions, and cost-saving strategies. Ability to independently estimate an electrical project valued at $100,000+.Ability to develop and present detailed proposal and qualification packages.

Minimum Salary: 55000 Maximum Salary: 80000 Salary Unit: Yearly
