Job Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement Communication Strategies
Understand, develop and implement communication strategies that align with division goals and brand messaging, including short- and long-term plans for marketing communications across various channels..
Manage and contribute to the planning, production, implementation, and tracking of all marketing and communication projects.
Propose and deliver solutions to drive customer engagement, awareness, and meet revenue and business metrics.
Develop key messages and manage content development and strategy for distribution channels, including web, social media, email, and print.
Identify partnerships, build and maintain effective relationships with internal organizations, department leaders, marketing, sales and service partners, creative services team members and external vendors, to implement communication plan.
Coordinate the distribution of content through various channels, including media buys and physical asset distribution.
Investigate and implement industry best practices to enhance processes, improve business systems, and optimize overall operations.
Develop an evaluation process to review progress toward achieving goals.
Identify Partnerships and Foster Collaboration
Build and sustain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, consulting with them to clarify problem statements, developing detailed briefs, and ensuring their communication requirements are effectively met.
Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and cultivate working relationships with the team, internal partners, external consultants, and other stakeholders.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with university communications to leverage internal stories and coordinate media coverage.
Position self as a “go to” person within the department for consultation on communication strategies.
Provide counsel to business leaders and others throughout the organization on best practices for social media strategies, to enhance their understanding and effectiveness in digital marketing.
Transform User Experiences and Analyze Campaigns
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to gain strategic insights, support content strategy decisions, and provide actionable reports.
Manage and update a performance dashboard, analyze, interpret and report results to amend marketing and communication plans and tactics.
Conduct market research and use advanced technology to implement concepts for events, branding, and marketing campaigns.
Monitor traffic, feedback, and engagement, identifying trends to support department goals.
Ensure effective delivery of information, audience engagement, and excellent customer service.
Investigate and propose industry best practices to improve business systems and optimize operations.
Present data, analytics, and trend activities to stakeholders, develop strategic insights, and deliver comprehensive proposals to support informed decision-making.
Ensure Communication Standards and Guidelines
Provide communications procedures for the F&A Marketing and Communications team.
Ensure communication principles, standards, and guidelines are consistent with the university’s editorial guidelines.
Manage, communicate, and oversee editorial style guides for the division’s departments to ensure consistency and understanding of brand elements specific to each partner.
Conducting proactive media outreach and responding rapidly to media inquiries on time-sensitive topics
Team Management and Development
- Hire, lead, supervise, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring continuous professional growth and effective performance.
Maintain Budgetary Responsibility
- Track and solicit bids from vendors to obtain information regarding estimated costs, labor, and materials involved in completing a project.

Required Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Management, Communication or related field
3-5 years experience in marketing, advertising, communications, marketing analytics, and/or related field
Experience coordinating and delegating work within a team, managing staff and their development and performance, or related supervisory experience.
An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Skills:
Develop and maintain relationships with individuals across various divisions and teams; analyze and understand customer needs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including spelling, grammar, and creative writing.
Background in marketing strategy to support communication efforts.
Ability to convincingly present communication tactics to individuals with limited knowledge of processes. Create engaging presentations that effectively communicate key messages and align with communication strategies.
Analyze data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to gain insights, measure effectiveness, and inform communication strategies.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in information.
Understanding of approaches, tools, and techniques for promoting marketing and communication strategies and tactics.
Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics to plan, organize, and monitor to achieve objectives.

The Communications Strategist for the Division of Finance and Administration is responsible for developing and managing comprehensive communication plans that align with university guidelines and brand messaging. This role requires a strategic thinker who can proactively develop and implement communication strategies, write briefs, and ensure all communications adhere to established standards.
Key responsibilities include building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external partners, managing client relationships, and ensuring their communication needs are met. The strategist will also handle project management tasks, including developing project briefs, managing a communications calendar, and ensuring timely execution and budget adherence. Additionally, they will coordinate content distribution through various channels, track key performance indicators to gain strategic insights, and adjust marketing and communication plans accordingly. The role involves investigating and implementing industry best practices to optimize operations, leading and developing team members, and presenting data and strategic insights to stakeholders. The strategist will also educate clients on communication strategies and social media best practices. This role emphasizes collaboration, knowledge sharing, and creativity within the team, ensuring that all communication efforts are cohesive, effective, and aligned with the division’s objectives.
This role will support all departments in the Division of Finance and Administration.
