GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Audiovisual Technology Specialist (ATS) applies specialized knowledge and skills to plan, design, install, support, troubleshoot and repair audiovisual (AV) systems and other equipment in technology-enhanced facilities to support teaching, learning, research and patient care. Tests and debugs systems. Ensures day-to-day operations and services run smoothly and maintains a consistent technology experience for all customers, including classrooms, conference rooms, offices and other spaces.

This position may have non-standard hours, including early mornings, late nights and weekends.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Designs and programs Audio Video Systems. Creates system designs and control systems. Specifies devices and wiring to meet system needs. Programs Local Area Network architecture. Custom tunes audio systems. Leverages programming knowledge to ensure systems operate as expected and technology lifespan is preserved. Creates workflows, user guides and strategies for system operation.

  2. Coordinates AV Installation Services. Develops and manages schedules. Tracks, stores and moves equipment. Conducts system pre-build and programming activities. Trains end users as required. Creates user guides.

  3. Meets with key stakeholders to understand needs. Gathers input on required tasks and translates into a project path. Disseminates information as needed in order to coordinate work and resources. Identifies, tracks and manages risk. Prepares estimates, quotes, invoices and/or bills departments for labor and materials used during projects. Executes billing according to finance team standards. Creates and maintains archival systems.

  4. Installs Audio Video Systems. Mounts equipment and systems and designs and installs equipment infrastructure. Commissions AV Systems by performing updates and debugging as needed.

  5. Performs maintenance activities. Provides on-going user and system support. Updates and/or debugs device software/firmware as needed. Works to reduce system downtime and trouble calls. Remains up-to-date on current AV technology.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • College degree preferred

  • 3 years of relevant experience including experience in audiovisual design required

  • or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • Experience required installing AV equipment, including displays, speakers, web based video conferencing systems and/or control systems required

  • Experience with TCP/IP protocol, CAD and Visio preferred

  • Basic understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, including design, hardware and protocols required

  • Exceptional customer service skills, including outstanding verbal and written communication required

  • Excellent working knowledge of AV equipment required

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications required

  • Proficiency in math, using tape measure, laser measure required

  • Proficiency with hand/power tools, wiring/cabling and termination, low voltage wiring, trim-out and installation of wall and ceiling mounts required

  • Strong Math skills including algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics and their applications preferred

  • Advanced level of Apple Hardware, OS X, Mobile, PC and/or Windows expertise and understanding preferred

  • Certified Extron Control Professional or Specialist preferred

  • Dante Level 1, 2 or 3 preferred

  • InfoComm CTS, Biamp Certifications preferred

Pay Range

Pay Range: $26.90 - $37.66 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
