In support of PPCWNY’s mission, the accountant has responsibility for performing daily banking activities for the agency, performing various audits and account reconciliations, preparing financial reports, completing month-end close activities, and performing other assigned accounting duties.
Essential Functions
Performs daily banking activities for PPCWNY
Records daily clinic patient and donation deposits and reconciles the related accounts
Completes periodic clinic site cash audits
Enters monthly journal entries identified on the monthly close schedule and reconciles those accounts
Prepares quarterly and year-end audit schedules with supporting documentation, as assigned
Prepares supporting documentation for the Director of Finance to complete the annual Medicaid Cost Report
Assists the Director of Finance with preparing the Annual Corporate Budget in Microix
Reviews the Distribution Codes monthly and updates the GL software, as needed
Manages the Corporate Credit Card and Travel accounts
Prepares miscellaneous invoices, such as Shared and Professional Services, as needed
Provides support in the preparation and evaluation of Finance Department Request for Proposals (RFPs)
Works with the Director of Finance to implement an Administration and Overhead Allocation methodology to run fully loaded departmental financial statements
Runs the monthly Financial Statement Reports for the Director of Finance’s review
Other Accountability Activities
Serves as backup to the Senior Accountant
Reviews the Senior Accountant’s and Director of Finance’s entries to post, as needed
Provides assistance to other members of the Finance team, as needed
Continues long-lived assets tagging project and works with the Senior Accountant to maintain up-to-date records of the agency’s assets
Identifies process improvements, makes recommendations, writes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) defining the new processes, and implements approved recommendations
Supports and participates in affiliate initiatives
Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements
Qualifications
Applicants must possess the following qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):
Education—
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience—
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional level position handling accounts reconciliations and analyses
Experience in healthcare industry is strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and accounting software is required; experience with MIP is preferred
Experience in financial report writing is preferred
Experience with grants financial reporting a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and critical thinking
Must be highly adaptable, detail oriented with a high level of accuracy, and able to work autonomously while following standardized practices and/or methods
Ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial personnel in a clear and concise manner
Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to prioritize work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work with confidential information is a must
Ability to travel to affiliate site(s) on a periodic basis

Work Schedule This is a full-time, 40 hour a week, position; regular schedule will be Monday – Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.
Benefits & CompensationAt PPCWNY, we are committed to equitable compensation practices and transparency. In alignment with these efforts, the pay for this position ranges from $56,638.40 to $65,582.40 yearly.
