POSITION DESCRIPTION

Recruiter – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Nature of Work

The Recruiter – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) performs full cycle recruitment, collaborating with hiring managers to create comprehensive recruitment strategies in order to expand the diversity of our workforce. Duties include implementing a variety of sourcing methods to engage diverse talent; developing relationships with community groups and non-traditional candidates; and conducting interviews. In addition, the Recruiter will provide professional development to support the City’s efforts to build diverse and inclusive teams.

Starting salary is $85,306 to $92,832 with advancement to $125,451.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following description of duties is for illustrative purposes and is not meant to be all-inclusive.

*Perform full cycle recruitment to achieve meaningful growth towards our workforce diversity goals

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their talent needs and develop recruitment strategies that attract diverse candidates.

  • Review job descriptions and recruitment practices to ensure an inclusive process.

  • Provide guidance to supervisors on recruitment strategies, including sourcing and interviewing opportunities.

  • Utilize a variety of sourcing methods to identify and engage diverse talent, including job boards, social media, professional networks and diversity-focused organizations.

  • Review applications, screen candidates and conduct interviews in partnership with hiring managers.

  • Build relationships with candidates to understand their career goals and aspirations, providing guidance and support throughout the recruitment process.

*Support the development and implementation of programming to establish a diverse talent pool

  • Develop outreach programs to include high school, college and non-traditional candidates in the City’s recruitment efforts.

  • Assist in the development and management of internship programs and workforce development initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain successful strategic relationships with local, regional and national organizations.

  • Represent the City of Rochester at recruitment events, diversity events, and education events.

*Support DEI learning and development opportunities for teammates

  • Foster a culture of inclusion and belonging across departmental and divisional activities.

  • Provide professional development to teammates and hiring managers, focused on diversity, equity and inclusion.

  • Maintain knowledge of national trends and current publications on relevant inclusion and diversity topics; research and identify opportunities to implement best practices.

    Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

*Essential Functions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in human resources, public administration, education, sociology, or a related field and at least four years of recruitment or training experience; AND demonstrated experience in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs, practices and policy development.

OR

An equivalent combination of education to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
