Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of work area

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Required: Machinist Journeyman's Card

  • Applicable previous experience

  • Preferred: Experience and/or training related to pharmaceutical or similar equipment, facilities, and documentation

Knowledge

In order to be eligible for this position, journeyman status or equivalent in the trade or specialty designated by management as currently necessary is required. Experience or education must establish knowledge and ability to perform the technical, reading, documentation, and mathematical requirements of the job.

Physical Requirements

  • Required to reach with hands and arms and frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel.

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision

  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts

  • Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals

  • The noise level is moderate

  • Work environment is a production/manufacturing environment

Machinist Trade Requirements:

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Working from blueprints, written or verbal instructions, installs, inspects, and maintains all filling, packaging, inspection, and conveying systems and equipment to ensure operation as specified and in compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Installs, troubleshoots, maintains, and assists with setup of filling and packaging equipment.

  • Utilizes power tools in Bldg. 9 machine shop to fabricate replacement machine parts.

  • Working from blueprints, sketches, or measurements, fabricates machine interfaces and conveyor rails.

  • Replaces mechanical seals and impellers/propellers in pumps and mixers.

  • Reads and follows PCPs, Job Aids, PMs, work orders and other required documents and procedures in the performance of installations and maintenance.

DETAILED DUTIES

  • Installs, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains the mechanical mechanisms on fillers, packaging equipment, conveyors, and inspection equipment.

  • Fabricates conveyor rails, turntables, and other mechanisms required to move vials, tubes, and syringes, through various operations.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical mechanisms (doors, seals, etc.) on equipment such as freeze dryers and sterilizers. Utilizes tools, physical measurement instruments, ladders, lifts, etc., in safe manner per plant safety procedures.

  • Completes documentation required for planning maintenance work and line utilization logs.

  • Maintains a clean and safe job-site at all times.

  • Communicates all work-related activities to production supervisors.

  • Assists other trades when necessary.

  • Utilizes drawings and schematics for installation and troubleshooting.

  • Operates Company vehicles for transportation of equipment within the facility or public highways.

  • Participates in safety training programs.

CBA Hourly Rate: $50.03

Shift Premiums available when working on afternoon or midnight shift.
