SUMMARY

The foreman shall be responsible to lead a crew of pipefitters and laborers in the installation of all piping systems including medical gas and vacuum at VA Central Office project located on Eye Street NW Washington DC. The work will consist of but not limited to the following:

• Installation of copper tubing, PVC, CPVC, PEX tubing and fittings

• Working with air/vacuum system design engineers and architects to implement their designs

• Reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and operational/product manuals as required

• Supervising the layout and installation of tubing/piping/hose assemblies to meet building codes and client’s requirements

• Determining appropriate materials and equipment needed for each project

• Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of tools and materials

• Perform other duties as assigned

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Safety procedures implementation and effectiveness

2. Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in a timely manner

3. Programming and utilization of BIM modeling software

4. Coordinate commissioning and validation activities on-site with operations team

5. Schedule commissioning and validation activities off-site with vendors

6. Procurement and scheduling of long lead items

7. Coordinate logistics for delivery of materials and equipment

8. Communicate with field team regarding ASI’s, RFI’s, and Material Submittals

9. Processing of time sheets and expense reports

10. Comply with all safety procedures and regulations

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have at least 5 years of experience in the trade

Minimum of 5 years leadership experience working with a Union workforce

Ability to read and understand documents such as blueprints and construction drawings

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Ability to perform basic math calculations

Requires good computer skills

Strong organizational skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Project

Self-starter who can work independently or supervise a group
