Description

We are seeking a Legal Secretary to join our team in Roanoke, Virginia. The role involves diverse responsibilities ranging from transactional/business law work to assisting other attorneys as needed. Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive secretarial support to attorneys, including drafting legal documents and correspondence.

• Manage transactional/business law tasks, including the preparation of legal contracts and documentation related to business transactions.

• Assist senior legal secretaries and paralegals with complex commercial litigation and transactional law matters.

• Maintain an organized and updated calendar, manage appointments, and coordinate meetings for attorneys.

• Utilize legal software such as LexisNexis and Microsoft Office Suites for research, documentation, and communication purposes.

• Contribute to the management of trust and estates and federal litigation matters.

• Offer support to other attorneys in the firm as needed, demonstrating adaptability and teamwork.

• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to legal compliance norms.

• Utilize legal terminology effectively in written and verbal communication.

• Handle legal billing functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook

• Familiarity with LexisNexis and other legal research tools

• Experience with legal software and management systems

• Ability to handle billing functions and legal billing processes

• Strong skills in documentation, briefing, and dictation

• Knowledge of business laws, commercial litigation, and complex commercial litigation

• Experience in transactional law, dealing with transactional matters and corporate transactions

• Understanding of corporate legal matters

• Previous experience as a legal assistant

• Knowledge of legal compliance, legal contracts, and legal correspondence

• Ability to manage and maintain legal files and handle legal issues

• Familiarity with legal regulatory requirements

• Ability to provide legal services and understand legal terminology

• Excellent legal writing skills

• Experience in calendar management.

• Strong knowledge and experience in handling legal documentation.
