Mon. - Fri. 7:00am - 3:30pm. Rotating on call assignment (1 week at a time) during which the employee must be available 24/7.

COMPENSATION:

$19.893 - 28.845/hr.

Under direct supervision of the Public Works Crew Leader or assigned supervisor, the incumbent performs various routine and repetitive tasks to construct, repair, and maintain the Citys water distribution, wastewater collection system, streets, right of ways, curbs, sidewalks, alleys, drainage systems, public areas, and all other City infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cleans, repairs, and maintains roads, bridges, medians, right of ways, alleys, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and other public areas within the City.

Performs routine and repetitive physical strenuous tasks including, but not limited to; hand working asphalt and concrete as it is placed; loading and unloading trucks; laying pipelines and repairing manholes; patching pot holes and overlaying of streets; sealing cracks in asphalt and concrete; removing and replacing concrete to include form setting to finishing; cutting brush and trees; mowing and weed-eating high grass and weeds; and maintaining clean street intersections, medians, and alleys.

Conducts daily inspections and preventative maintenance measures of vehicles, equipment, and tools including, but not limited to; washing, checking safe and proper operation, and servicing; checking fluid levels, lubrication, tire pressure check, cleaning filters and screens, cleaning of wind shields; insure road worthiness by checking the operation and presence of all lights, horns, braking systems, wipers, road hazard equipment, securing loads and other items required by the Dept. of Transportation before allowing equipment onto public roads.

Constructs, maintains, and replaces water or sewer mains and/or service lines; inspects, diagnoses, and repairs failures in water and sewer mains; operates various construction equipment; builds and adjusts manholes and clean-outs; installs and repairs fire hydrants and valves; prepares trenches; rods and cleans sewer lines; excavates water and sewer mains and services, exposing them for repair, installs and changes water meters and pit pads; and performs other water distribution, production, and collection tasks.

Excavates trenches and ditches for the installation of new mains and/or service lines.

Operates sewer cleaning equipment, as needed, to clean mains, services, manholes, and spills.
