Waste Connections NOW HIRING LANDFILL GAS TECHNICIAN ASAP! PLUS a 5K Stay On Bonus (Sun Country Materials C&D Disposal Facility Riverview FL) in Riverview, Florida

Waste Connections is looking for a Landfill Gas Technician to join the Sun Country Materials C&D Disposal Facility t eam in Riverview, FL.

This will be a typically Monday – Friday position working 7am to 5pm, some weekend work may be required on an as needed basis, approximately 50-hour work week. Plus year round OT. Plus $5,000 Stay On Bonus!

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the Facility’s gas collection and control system (GCCS) remains in compliance with all Federal, State and local laws and regulations.

  • Perform routine system inspections and repairs on the GCCS facility and document.

  • Work with Region Engineers, District Manager and Landfill Operations Manager to ensure compliance.

  • Maintain relationships with other Facility employees as well as consultants, vendors, and contractors. Oversee and coordinate work with vendors and contractors.

  • Assist in Facility environmental reviews and audits.

  • Use gas analyzers, equipment, probes, instruments, etc… to monitor gases in the field.

  • Performing maintenance on pneumatic, electrical and other types of pumps, switches, etc.

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to follow established procedures with minimal amount of direct supervision

  • Work outdoors for most of the day. Be willing to perform a variety of tasks on any given day. Traversing 3:1 slopes and able to walk on inclined surfaces.

  • Ability to handle objects up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, contracts, federal, state and local regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Experience operating hand, power tools, forklift (telehandler), and man-lift.

  • Provide on-call response to the system. Maintain a good attitude and a hard work ethic.

  • Must be mechanically proficient in a variety of systems and field instruments.

  • Ability to collect data, interpret data and draw valid conclusions. Ability to prepare reports at the state or local levels.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Good communication and organizational skills.

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Experience with GCCS Systems or similar landfill gas experience

  • Experience with environmental site assessments and remediation

  • Experience with environmental audits
