We are currently accepting applications for an immediate opening for a full time Senior Geotechnical Engineer

at our Riverside (East Providence) Rhode Island office. S. W. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for leading, organizing and executing projects and assignments and

supervises Staff and Project Geotechnical Engineers.

Job Functions

  • Observe construction and field activities on site.
  • Business development and client cultivation.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses.
  • Collect project data, information, and gathers documents.
  • Manages and executes all aspects of projects by planning, preparing proposals, budgets, scopes, schedules, and assigning necessary tasks to staff involved with the project(s).
  • Review technical proposals.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations and data.
  • Communicate effectively and consistently with clients and other design professionals.
  • Accurately reviews project billing, and tracks time spent on projects consistently.
  • Remain consistently updated of new technical developments and requirements that affect the company and recommends changes to current programs.
  • Frequently reviews operational procedures.
  • Represents the company in communications and conferences, and actively participates in business and industry events and professional societies and seeks committee assignments.
  • Safe operation and handling of company testing equipment and vehicles in accordance with company policies/safety policies.
  • Practice confidentiality according to company policy.

Job Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge and use of computer software including MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, project management software, geotechnical software, and must be able to learn new programs.
  • Understand and apply advanced, industry related math skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Skilled in collecting, analyzing, and organizing complex data.
  • Ability to maintain records of materials, supplies, time, and work performed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to direct and organize activities.
  • Business development and client cultivation - Has an established network of industry contacts and clients in New England and regularly participates in related trade events.
  • Represents the company in communications and conferences, and actively participates in business and industry events and professional societies and seeks committee assignments.
  • Regularly spend long hours sitting/standing and using office equipment and computers.
  • Occasionally conducts laboratory testing on soil, aggregate and rock samples and equipment requiring lifting, carrying and bending with up to 40 pounds.
  • Driving for long periods of time and more frequent shorter trips.
  • Close, distant, and peripheral vision.
  • Ability interact appropriately with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to remember and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to reason logically and make high level decisions.

Education, Experience, License and Other Requirements

  • B.S. Civil Engineering required, with emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology preferred.
  • M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
  • Familiarity with geology and site conditions in New England.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Rhode Island and/or Massachusetts required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related engineering and project management experience, or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions required of Senior Geotechnical Engineer.
  • Risk management training and ex erience.
  • Valid drivers license, active auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
