Position Summary

Under the direction of the Homeless to Work Program Coordinator, the Maintenance Crew Member will participate in clean up and beautification projects identified by the city. Participate in life skills courses to better the chances of permanent employment.

Prerequisite

This is a grant funded program only for Homeless individuals looking for part time temporary employment.

Essential Functions

  • Perform weed abatement tasks such as, but not limited to racking, shoveling and picking up weeds and other landscape debris.

  • Pick up and dispose of all garbage and debris in designated areas.

  • Participate in weekly case management meetings.

  • Arrive at work with appropriate work attire.

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines ensuring the use of the provided safety equipment and/or clothing i.e., work glove, goggles, etc.

  • Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on intermittent on continuous basis.

  • Grasp, pull, push objects such as weeds, trash bags, and other necessary cleanup equipment.

  • Handle light duty tools and yard working equipment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuously. Ability to able to lift up to 40 lbs. Ability to grasp, pull, push objects such as weeds, trash bags and other necessary cleaning equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old.

  • Background check required.

  • Be neatly groomed.

  • Be friendly, respectful, honest and punctual.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Understand the mission and purpose of the homeless to work program.

  • Able to function in a frequently changing environment.

  • Must possess good relationship skills, must be flexible and willing to learn and follow instructions.

  • Must interact respectfully with other participants.
