Description
Long Island Select Healthcare Inc. (LISH) is a comprehensive network of community health centers under a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) model. We provide Article 16 and 28 clinic services at 3 locations across Suffolk County, New York.
LISH is currently searching for a Full Time Dental Assistant to work at our Riverhead location. We are seeking a positive, energetic, compassionate person to perform a variety of responsibilities for this busy health clinic. Experience with the developmentally disabled population is desired.
General Duties:
Sets up dental instruments needed for treatment
Assists the dentist with direct patient care. Duties include handing instruments to the dentist, suctioning the patient’s mouth, offering the patient encouragement and positive reinforcement.
Takes x-rays prescribed by dentist, (i.e. Panoramic, Periapical, and bitewings).
Monitors supplies and re-orders when indicated.
Alerts the Purchasing Agent when there is malfunctioning equipment.
Checks charts to be sure documentation is rendered before re-filing.
Answers telephone in dental suite and takes messages while dentist is treating.
Completes Medicaid override forms and obtains dentist’s signatures.
Requirements:
Graduation from formal Dental Assistant training program required.
2 To 5 years of experience serving people with medical illness and/or developmental disabilities preferred
EMR experience preferred (i.e eClinicalWorks)
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
Customer-friendly attitude
Ability and means to travel between sites
Valid NYS Driver’s License
