Position Summary

Plans, develops, coordinates, manages, and executes the recruitment and admissions process for international academic programs in alignment with the institution’s strategic goals of increasing the volume of students in international academic programs and simplifying the admissions process. Represents the institution to prospective students with a goal of attracting, admitting, and enrolling a talented, diverse student body. May supervise staff and/or lead a program area. The position serves as the primary university contact for potential international students interested in studying at UW-River Falls, and will provide innovative and collaborative approaches to international student recruitment. The position works closely with academic areas to develop, foster, and maintain strategic partnerships with collaborative universities, educational agencies, sponsorship programs, high schools and other feeder programs that drive international student enrollment. The position is the primary contact for prospective international students and applicants.

Responsibilities

Recruitment and Travel

  • Identifies opportunities for and develops admission and outreach events to meet the University’s international enrollment objectives.

  • Counsels prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities.

  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the institution, representing UWRF at recruitment functions, including partner university visits, high school/community college visits, and college fairs.

  • Creates targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals, serving as UWRF’s first contact and primary representative to prospective students and families from diverse international backgrounds, communicating an in-depth knowledge of the University’s mission, academic, and co-curricular programs.

  • Provides extensive follow-up with prospective international students to encourage complete application and enrollment.

  • Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences.

  • Engages in extensive outreach and recruitment events, representing the university to prospective students and applicants in ongoing communication through CRM messaging, face-to-face meetings, email, and other forms of communication.

  • Maintain a data-driven approach to recruitment.

  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships (e.g., educational institutions, governmental authorities, and corporations) focusing on international student outreach, recruitment, and admission.

Admissions

  • Implements policies and procedures for the processing of international applications in alignment with the international recruitment strategic plan.

  • Reviews, evaluates, and processes student applications according to established policies and procedures.

  • Assess the authenticity and equivalency of international academic credentials and ensure compliance with university and regulatory standards.

Other

  • Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement.

  • Serves as a member of the Office of International Education Team, contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to achieve the university’s enrollment and retention goals.

  • Participates in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in the recruitment and retention of international students.

  • May supervise staff and/or lead a program area.

  • Completes other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to make and deliver effective presentations

  • Knowledge of international student recruitment and partnership development

  • Proven organizational, planning, budgeting, and record-keeping skills, problem-solving ability, ability to maintain confidentiality, and ability to work effectively under pressure in stressful conditions

  • An intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and either experience using or willingness to learn website design and education database software programs (e.g., Via or Terradotta)

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve campus international education goals

  • Availability to work occasional evening/weekend hours and travel

Preferred

  • Experience working with a CRM , preferably Slate

  • Experience living and/or traveling internationally

  • Master’s degree from an accredited university

  • Familiarity with and/or demonstrated ability to follow UW System, Board of Regent, State, and UW-River Falls policies and guidelines
