Description
Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a highly motivated in vivo Scientist II to join a team of talented scientists committed to the discovery of innovative medicines to improve the lives of patients with cardio-renal-metabolic diseases at our R&D site in Ridgefield, CT. This position requires performing rodent studies to advance innovative and novel research programs in cardiometabolic diseases. This includes but is not limited to Liver Health (MASH, Cirrhosis, Decompensation). Direct experience in this disease area and related modalities (NCE, NBE, peptides, GalNAc-siRNA) is preferred.

The main responsibilities of the Scientist II include independently developing, troubleshooting, and testing therapeutics in rodent animal models with minimal supervision, as well as investigation and implementation of new technologies to advance the field.

Duties & Responsibilities
Initiate and complete routine in vivo studies in an independent and efficient manner, with minimal supervision. Demonstrates the ability to interpret outcome of experiments and to propose appropriate follow-up.
Demonstrate technical ability to assist in the design and execution of non-routine experiments in the context of liver disease in vivo models and conducts exploratory experiments under supervision.
Communicate own work effectively orally and in writing; contributes to writing protocols, procedures, and technical reports; provide input for scientific reports.
Compliance with all IACUC regulations is required.
Independently operates and is responsible for lab equipment; troubleshoots effectively.
Reports and treats data with a high level of integrity and ethics.
Requirements
Bachelor´s Degree with 3+ years experience in related scientific discipline or Master´s Degree in related scientific discipline or pharmaceutical, biotechnology or CRO experience is highly desirable
Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of basic scientific principles for conducting in vivo research
Direct experience in rodent models of liver disease is preferred
Experience in routine routes of rodent dosing, health monitoring, and sample collection; experience in both mouse and rat techniques is preferred (oral, ip, sc, iv)
Proven problem-solving ability and scientific curiosity
Proficiency with data analysis software and scientific communication
Ability and willingness to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment
Willingness to support weekend work when required for in vivo pharmacology studies
This position, Scientist II, offers a base salary typically between $75,000.00 and $122,000.00.
