Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Chemical Development and Biotherapeutics Discovery Department at our US headquarters in Ridgefield, CT. The Ridgefield campus, along with our sister sites in Texas and California, includes a thriving community of postdocs and PhD students that connects globally with their peers on our European campuses.

As a Post-Doctoral Fellow, you will be a primary driver of an innovative research project on the development and applications of Non-Precious Metal Catalysis for homogeneous and heterogeneous processes. The candidate will ultimately provide creative solutions to complex chemistry problems in the production of industrially relevant pharmaceutical intermediates.

A strong background in organic chemistry and synthetic methodology are ideal foundations for this position, along with skills to work in a multidisciplinary environment. Post-Doctoral Fellows are expected to independently conduct research and publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Duties & Responsibilities

With support from their advisor and team, the ideal candidate is expected to:

  • Take full responsibility for a research project, with guidance from experienced mentors with extensive background in academia and industry.

  • Provide input to create, organize, and execute a research project in catalysis using automated systems and manufacturing processes.

  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Publish results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present data at scientific conferences.

  • Comply with all applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner and maintaining proper records in accordance with SOP’s and policies.

Compensation Data

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Organic Chemistry with no more than three (3) years of Post Doctoral experience.

  • Ability to work independently, design and execute experimental strategy to advance projects.

  • Demonstrated creativity and novel approaches to solving scientific problems.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Eligibility Requirements :

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

  • A track record of creativity and initiative driving cutting edge research.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience in organic synthesis; Catalysis is a plus.

  • Good knowledge of scientific area of responsibility; ability to ask critical scientific questions and critiques devised hypotheses.
