Boehringer Ingelheim Post Doctoral Fellow Clinical Pharmacology in Ridgefield, Connecticut

Description

The Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship Program is designed to leverage the skillsets acquired in a PharmD training program to train Clinical Pharmacologist for a career in the pharmaceutical industry. The Fellow will be based at Boehringer Ingelheim’s U.S. headquarters in Ridgefield, CT, working on a particular or multiple therapeutic areas (TAs) in the areas of cardiology, diabetes, immunology, oncology, respiratory, and psychiatry. This position will provide an opportunity for the Fellow to get involved in various cross functional teams within BI, and the Fellow will gain an understanding of the broad range of opportunities available to a pharmacist in the pharmaceutical industry.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy earned prior to the start date at Boehringer Ingelheim.

  • Ability to perform MEDLINE and EMBASE literature searches.

  • Strong intrapersonal, active listening, and problem-solving skills with an ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Highly motivated and shows initiative in contributing to team deliverables.

  • Receptive to receiving and quickly implementing constructive feedback.

  • Ability to work independently within provided guidance from team leads.

  • Adaptable and able to contribute to multiple Therapeutic Areas as needed.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven experience working in a dynamic, high volume environment handling multiple tasks.

  • Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • Foundational understanding of corporate structure, regulatory considerations and the drug development process in pharmacy with an ability to quickly adapt to a changing Corporate environment that will allow the incumbent to be productive in rotational experiences.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work under the mentorship of a senior clinical pharmacologist in various aspects of drug development from clinical pharmacology perspective.

  • Develop a sound understanding and application of global regulatory guidance (e.g., FDA, EMA, PMDA, etc.) that are essential in designing drug development strategy and at the same time serve as a framework for drug development from clinical pharmacology perspective. For instance, understanding and applying the drug-drug interaction guidance to conceptualize the drug interaction risk of a new drug under development and subsequently design appropriate trials to elucidate the risk clinically.

  • Serve as a responsible clinical pharmacologist; design the clinical pharmacology aspects of the clinical trial protocol as well as analyze and interpret clinical pharmacology results (e.g., food effect study, drug-drug interaction study, formulation bridging study, single rising dose study, etc.).

  • Undertake a review of literature to find solutions to scientific challenges/to design clinical trial/project strategies.

  • Author clinical pharmacology sections of documents such as clinical trial protocols, clinical trial reports, investigator brochure, response to authority requests, etc.

  • Present internally as well as externally (for instance, presentation at professional clinical pharmacology meetings) and coauthor scientific manuscripts depending on project needs.

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

  • Prior pharmaceutical industry experience (e.g. internship or Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience [APPE] rotation is preferred but not required.)

Compensation
