Boehringer Ingelheim Chemical Development Intern in Ridgefield, Connecticut

Description

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Chemical Development department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. As an Intern, you will work in an organic synthesis laboratory and gain hands-on experience in process chemistry. Research for the intern will focus on developing new methods for heterocycle synthesis using organolithium chemistry. You will have the opportunity to gain a broad perspective on process development in a pharmaceutical industry setting.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Learn organic lab and spectroscopic techniques

  • Perform scientific experiments in organic chemistry with a predefined goal

  • Complete tasks in a safe and compliant manner

  • Perform literature searches as necessary

  • Maintain proper records of experiments in a notebook

  • Present research results in both oral and written formats

Requirements

  • Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing

  • Student must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship

  • Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred

  • Major or minor in related field of internship

  • Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university

  • Graduate and Advanced Degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • Some experience in organic chemistry laboratory research

  • Ability to think critically about experimental results and use that information to plan and conduct further experiments

  • Interest in learning about process chemistry

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Compensation Data

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
