Description
An advocate for AI/ML and computation-enabled drug discovery and development, steering data-driven decision-making for an end-to-end approach towards the discovery and development of biotherapeutics. Contribute to improve the probability of success in our drug discovery process, with a broad focus on emerging science and technology. In close collaboration with Biotherapeutics leadership, scientists, our internal partners as well as external collaborators- universities, pharma, etc.; the incumbent identifies and executes AI use cases and provides in-depth technical expertise as needed. Be a strong proponent of digital transformation using AI within Biotherapeutics organization.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Lead the Data Science and AI efforts to support the discovery and development of novel biotherapeutics.
• Responsible for identification and execution of AI use cases with Biotherapeutics Scientists, RIX, gCBDS, Digital IU, BI X and IT, establish and maintain AI use case portfolio within Global Biotherapeutics Research. Monitor progress within the portfolio towards the Global Biotherapeutics Research digital ambitions.
• Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to integrate AI insights into the pipeline, fostering a data-driven approach to innovation in biotherapeutics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data science initiatives.
• Stay abreast of the latest AI/ML advancements externally and continuously seeking collaboration opportunities to apply them within the biologics field to push the boundaries of what's possible in drug discovery.
• Integrate science, medicine, financial, regulatory, legal, competitive, and operational aspects to lead interdisciplinary team to make recommendations to Senior Management.
• Requires management of timely and clear communication and interfaces with internal and external domestic and foreign academic institutions and companies.
• Compliance with regulations, laws, and guidelines. Adheres to the company code of conduct and values.
• Mentor and/or manage data scientists and bioinformaticians.
Requirements
• PhD in Biology, Pharmacology, Computer Science, Computational Biology, Engineering or relevant discipline with at least five (5) years of postgraduate experience or Masters with (7) years.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Proficiency in data visualization and statistical analysis tools
• Deep understanding of data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, as well as a strong background in biology or biochemistry. Industry and project/change management experience highly desired.
• Ability to ask critical scientific questions and critiques devised hypotheses.
• Self-driven, attention to detail, conscientious, high sense of accountability
• Team Player with a Strong ‘influence without authority’ skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
• Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
Compensation Data
This position offers a base salary typically between $170,000 and $269,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance-based bonus and or other compensation elements.
