Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Specialist (Painting Department)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled painter to prepare and paint steel beams in a large manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in metal fabrication and be able to follow written and verbal instructions. This role involves setting up and operating spray painting equipment, ensuring proper ventilation and safety, and inspecting the quality of the painted steel beams.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare steel beams for painting by cleaning, sanding, and removing any rust or debris.

  • Set up and operate spray painting equipment to apply paint evenly and smoothly to steel beams.

  • Select and mix paint colors according to specifications.

  • Document and prepare steel beams for painting.

  • Ensure proper ventilation and safety measures are followed during the painting process.

  • Inspect painted steel beams for quality and make any necessary touch-ups or corrections.

  • Maintain and clean painting equipment and work area.

  • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures.

  • Coat the steel with primer and paint and load the trucks to ship the steel out.

Essential Skills

  • Experience as an industrial painter.

  • Experiences in shipping and receiving

  • Proficiency with spray painting equipment.

  • Ability to operate overhead cranes.

  • Experience in sanding and surface preparation.

  • Shipping and receiving experience.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a metal fabrication facility.

  • Team management skills.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large manufacturing company working with structural steel and overhead cranes to move metal. The environment can be cold in the winter and hot during the summer. Safety is a top priority.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
