Job Title: Machine Operator - Polisher
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Machine Operator - Polisher for our 1st shift, Monday to Friday, 6am-2:30pm. The operator will be responsible for operating the lathe, high cycle grinder (20,000 RPM), and other polishing tools to apply the final surface finish to assembly parts. These parts are primarily for the assembly of pumps and valves, with some parts used in PHE as well. This long-term position offers the opportunity for cross-training in assembly and pay increases as skill levels improve.
Responsibilities
Operate lathe, high cycle grinder, and other polishing tools.
Perform OD (outside diameter) polishing initially, then progress to ID (inside diameter) polishing.
Change out belts, bobs, and unitized wheels to achieve the desired finish.
Use a standard piece as a comparison to determine if the finish is correct.
Pick parts needed for assembly and place them on carts with the Manufacturing Order (MO).
Utilize the MO to determine the correct finish for each part.
Check the quality of your own work.
Wear required PPE: gloves, N95 mask, PAPR, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel toes.

Preferred forklift operating experience (certification provided after one month)

Ability to lift 50lbs+ (40lbs+ independently)
Capability to walk, sit, and reach for extended periods
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools

Work Environment
1st shift Monday to Friday, 6am-2:30pm (possible extension to 4:30pm). The work environment is a clean, organized, and large manufacturing floor with clearly labeled sections based on materials and production. PPE is required, including gloves, N95 mask, PAPR, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel toes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
