Job Description

The Engineer Leader 1 (EL1) supports, participates in, and leads projects/programs while building client trust and validating a world class solution. The EL1 leads engineering best practices across several disciplines and has experience with coaching and mentoring concepts and methods.

Job Responsibilities:

The Engineering Leader 1 is responsible for:

  • Leading complex technical discussions, projects, and/or programs.

  • Validating world class technical solutions on projects.

  • Ensuring engineering best practices are followed across multiple engineering and solution disciplines.

  • Managing technical risk on a project.

  • Providing oversight, direction, and technical expertise to engineering teams on a project.

  • Leading an engineering discipline to develop new and upcoming engineers and technical experts.

  • Preparing client-specific solutions.

  • Driving the development and maintenance of project artifacts that are required to ensure success for a project.

  • Identifying, recommending, and implementing work process improvements.

  • Reviewing technical project details with project leadership.

  • Managing the integration of data from multiple company systems and analyzing the data to draw insights on project technical solution.

  • Ensuring safety regulations are adhered to and issues identified and resolved.

  • Maintaining a positive, assertive relationship with project engineers to achieve project milestones and overall project success.

Skills:

The Engineering Leader 1 required skills are:

  • Ability to develop and provide solutions to technical challenges.

  • Strong knowledge of one or more technologies and various application methods.

  • Experience with collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.

  • Ability to lead and participate in technical discussions with project leadership.

  • Ability to lead the application of principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment for one or more specific branches of engineering to the design and production of various goods and services.

  • Strong Knowledge cost estimation.

  • Strong knowledge of finance systems and basic principles of finance management.

  • Ability to design, build, and development of a new product, technology, or service

  • Ability to calculate and present the costs of a project when budgeting.

  • Ability to develop and maintain trust and trusting relationships.

  • Strong knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding

The Engineering Leader 1 preferred skills are:

  • Strong knowledge of applying engineering science and technology to the construction industry.

  • Ability to review and correct construction drawings and construction project standards.

  • Strong knowledge of fabrication and installation standards and specifications

Tools Experience:

The Engineering Leader 1 must have experience with:

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access)

  • MS Outlook Mail

  • Engineering Document Management System (EDMS)

  • Microsoft Visio

  • SharePoint

  • SureTrak

  • All M.C. Dean applications (including, but not limited to Job Connect, EVMS, Timesheets, Accubid, Infralink, Forms)

Education, Experience & Training

The Engineering Leader 1 required education and training is:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering preferably from an ABET accredited program.

  • 7+ years of experience in any Engineering discipline with Construction experience with a Bachelor's in Engineering degree

The Engineering Leader 1 preferred education and training is:

  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) certification

  • Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) certification

  • Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) training

  • National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) training

Abilities:

  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.

  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.

  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.

  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

  • Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

  • Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
