About the Opportunity

The Federal Reserve System (FRS) National IT organization has an immediate opening for an Accessibility Advisor, reporting to the User Experience, Senior Manager.

The Accessibility Advisor is passionate about the opportunity to positively change how people of all abilities interact with enterprise technology. This role serves as a technical leader, advocate, and problem solver focused on delivering and improving our products to meet the accessibility needs of our FRS (Federal Reserve System) workforce.

What You Will Do:

Testing

  • Evaluate and assess digital product UX/UI designs and requirements to ensure they meet accessibility standards

  • Conduct automated accessibility audit and testing of website and applications with tools like ANDI, Axe DevTools, Microsoft Insights for Web, and/or other relevant tools

  • Conduct manual accessibility review across multiple devices and platforms, using well-known testing guidelines and assistive technology like screen readers.

  • Provide recommendations and detailed audit reports outlining improvements and priorities to ensure designs are inclusive for users with disabilities and neurodiversity.

  • Present accessibility findings to executives, designers, developers, and other stakeholders.

Strategy

  • Promote accessibility best practices throughout the organization by documenting standards and developing awareness and training programs, and present subject matter expertise at internal meetings and conferences.

  • Work closely with product teams, designers, developers, and QA teams to integrate accessibility into the design and development process.

  • Collaborate with our content strategists and communicators to support their work creating accessible content

  • Understand and inform accessibility roadmaps and advancements for enterprise (often third-party) solutions.

  • Create and track metrics (e.g., Objectives and Key Results) to drive increased focus on solutions that address a variety of disabilities.

  • Direct internal and external resources responsible for audits, testing, training, etc.

  • Coordinate with procurement and business leadership to incorporate accessibility requirements into contracts and due diligence activities with vendors.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in a role that includes digital accessibility responsibilities

  • Proven experience in accessibility testing and reviewing digital products for compliance with accessibility standards and process (e.g., WCAG, Trusted Tester).

  • Familiarity with or knowledge of ADA, Section 508, Title II,etc.

  • Understanding of semantic HTML, ARIA, and other coding practices.Handson experience with desktop screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, or Narrator) and native tools for mobile accessibility testing.

  • Strong familiarity with accessibility testing tools such as Microsoft Insights for Web, Deque Axe DevTools, and other relevant accessibility auditing tools.

  • Experience writing clear and detailed accessibility requirements and recommendations and working with development teams to implement these requirements.

  • Strong knowledge of accessibility guidelines, best practices, and industry standards.

  • Proficiency with Jira or similar project management tools for creating and updating tickets.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multiple teams and functions.

  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter, managing tasks and projects with minimal supervision.

  • A bachelor's degree, or compelling work experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching, coaching, or mentoring others in accessibility

  • Certification or formal training in accessibility (e.g., IAAP CPACC and/or WAS, Trusted Tester).

  • Familiarity with Agile development processes and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Sponsorship is not available for this role. Selected candidate is subject to special background check procedures.

  • The hiring range of the Advisor-Experienced is $100,000– 125,000 and Advisor-Senior is $120,000 – 145,000 annually, may vary by location.

  • Salary offered will be based on the job responsibilities and the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience as defined in the job qualifications/experience.
