North Wind Solutions is a Government contracting small business with operations at military and civilian installations across the United States. The company's focus is facilities operation and maintenance, waste management and radiological services, security control and force protection, and environmental services.

POSITION PURPOSE:

North Wind Solutions Information Management and the North Wind Enterprise Application Services at the Hanford Site in Richland WA develop and maintain hundreds of custom and commercial-off-the-shelf software applications, as well as provide architecture, infrastructure and security to our client's information management environments. Throughout the North Wind Solutions enterprise, a major modernization effort towards a more effective Software Development Lifecyle and agile methodology is occurring. In this phase of the transformation, the organization must maintain current software development processes while implementing new, agile processes alongside them and ensuring a safe and secure computing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will be part of a strong team providing software engineering support to design, develop, operate and maintain software programs. Software engineering support also includes the assessment, maintenance, documentation, modernization, testing, and implementation functions. Responsibilities will include the support of legacy systems and the production of new systems.

The software engineer will provide development and support for a variety of customized applications, as well as Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) products. Support and development will include .NET, ColdFusion and other programming languages with back-end databases developed in Microsoft SQL Server. Support also includes the operation and maintenance support for legacy systems and website applications.

The software engineer will perform the following, but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshoot software production issues

  • Design databases

  • Develop using Adobe ColdFusion and .NET technology

  • Understand and follow established Software Development Process

  • Assist with providing estimates

  • Assist with gathering requirements from customers

  • Develop technical documentation

  • Communicate effectively with good written and verbal communication skills

  • Participate in agile team environment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field plus 1-3 years of related experience in computer application development.

  • Minimum of 1-3 years' relevant experience in a multi-platform environment application and database development with significant involvement in developing projects using .NET technology and SQL design

  • Minimum of 1 years' experience in C#

  • Minimum of 1 years' experience in ColdFusion development

  • Minimum of 1 years' experience in JavaScript, CSS, HTML

  • Minimum of 1 years' experience with Unity

  • Minimum of 1 years' experience with AzureDevOps or like system and/or the Agile Framework

  • Ability to work in a multi-task, multi-project development environment

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to work in a team-oriented collaborative environment

  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed

  • Strong customer relationship skills

Special Requirements:

  • Occasional Off Hours and Weekend support may be required to support outages, implementations, updates or upgrades.

  • Must pass pre-employment background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-3years' experience in .NET programming

  • Familiarity with Hanford Site applications, systems and infrastructure.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be sitting for long periods of time in an office environment, but will also be required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This position is in a remote first environment however this role may require limited time in the office. Work is performed within a typical office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
