Sargent & Lundy Senior Structural Designer in Richland, Washington

Description

Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering design and consulting support to the management and operating contractors for US Department of Energy (DOE) sites and national laboratories. Specifically, we support the DOE Environmental Management Directorate as well as the National Nuclear Security Administration laboratories and sites. What does this mean? You can be a part of multi-discipline design teams supporting projects cleaning up the environmental damage associated with the legacy nuclear weapons production complex and/or preserving our country’s nuclear deterrent. Sargent & Lundy’s personnel design facilities, systems, and equipment that treat, store, and dispose of nuclear waste as well as systems that safely handle and process nuclear material.   • As a member of the structural design team, this position will offer you the opportunity to work with multi-disciplined engineering and design project teams in developing structural physical layout drawings in a 3-D model

  • Challenging assignments that include the design of structural supports and foundations and investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of structural design issues

  • Utilize 3D modeling software tools to generate structural design drawings

  • Participate in the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of an integrated structural design model

  • Coordinate and guide other designers and project team members to ensure a complete and timely design

  • Independently and as a member of a design team, plan and execute structural design deliverables

  • There may be the opportunity to accompany and assist senior designers and engineers in field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities

  • Challenging assignments that include the design of structural supports and foundations, and investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of structural design issues

  • Generate structural design drawings

  • Provide guidance as a mentor in the development of less experienced drafters and designers

Qualifications

Must be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Must be able to pass a U.S. Government security clearance check

  • An Associate's Degree and a minimum of 10 years of detailed design experience in the development of structural steel design and reinforced concrete design drawings

  • Proficiency with design software tools in executing 2D & 3D Structural drawings & models

  • Experience in the review of structural layout drawings involving steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, foundations, and rebar detailing

  • Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process

    Valued but not required experience:

  • Proficiency with MicroStation

  • 3D scanning

  • Associates Degree in Computer Aided Design

  • Experience using Autodesk software such as Revit and Civil 3D.

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design.

    Salary Range

    $91,000-106,000
