Job Description Summary Diagnoses maintenance problems, installs and sets up equipment, reads and understand prints and schematics. Advises supervisory personnel on maintenance requirements, repair equipment, helps train less skilled maintenance mechanics. This position may be required to work any shift or all days of the week in accordance with production and maintenance schedules. Job Description ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Performs maintenance work, repair and adjustments of processing equipment; changes and replaces belts, sprockets, bearings, chains, motors, pumps, etc., and performs building repairs. Performs structurally sound welds and acceptable cutting using appropriate welding equipment. Reads, writes and communicates in English by using prints, sketches, diagrams, operating instructions and technical manuals. Performs safety procedures for normally used chemicals. Performs general carpentry. This position must work in any assigned area throughout the plant and other maintenance duties as assigned by supervisory personnel. Demonstrates within 30 days of job assignment, ownership of proper tools for the job as specified by the company. SAFETY: Must have a complete knowledge and understanding of the plant safety rules including but not limited to the lockout-tagout procedure, chemical hazards and the hearing conservation program. Must have good personal hygiene and be able to practice safe work habits. Basic & Preferred Qualifications QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. If requested reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: One to ninety days on the job training. Ability to perform structurally sound welds and acceptable cutting using equipment as listed below: a. Use of acetylene cutting torch - mild steel b. Arc Weld (all positions) - mild steel and stainless steel c. Use of Heli-arc-stainless steel and aluminum LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively commensurate with the requirements of this position. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
