job summary:

A HVAC Engineer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Richland, WA area. The HVAC Mechanical Engineer will design and develop HVAC systems for treatment and vitrification processes, prepare technical documentation, perform engineering calculations, and coordinate with various stakeholders while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

responsibilities:

Level 1:

  • Evaluate, select, and standard mechanical engineering methods and techniques.

  • Participate in the design, development, and modification of mechanical components and processes.

  • Coordinate mechanical engineering efforts with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendors, contractors, and construction teams.

  • Prepare conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.

  • Provide technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interact with project functions, clients, and regulatory personnel to resolve complex issues.

  • Assist project and construction management with mechanical project requirements and address issues during project execution.

Level 2:

  • Lead small projects or assignments, including original designs, layouts, drawings, and specifications.

  • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate mechanical components and processes.

  • Prepare mechanical engineering reports for clients.

  • Assist or lead in preparing conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.

  • Provide guidance to other mechanical engineers and mentor junior team members.

  • Complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.

  • Select components and equipment based on specifications and reliability analysis.

Skills:

  • Experience with company procurement tools (WTP experience preferred).

  • Proficient in HVAC load calculations, ductwork design, and equipment selection for nuclear HVAC systems.

  • Knowledge of ASME AG-1, ASHRAE, SMACNA standards, and familiarity with DOE Nuclear Cleaning Handbook and guides.

Education and Experience:

Level 1:

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience, or

  • 9-12 years of relevant work experience.

Level 2:

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience, or

  • 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
