Schedule: Monday - Friday 5x8 schedule/ hour to be determined Our Histotechnologists are responsible for performing all routine procedures in orienting, sectioning, and staining tissue specimens to produce slides which will aid pathologists in diagnosis requires teamwork to achieve common goals and meet deadlines to provide quality care to clients and patients. Additionally, the position (level II or higher) requires understanding of complex special procedures, techniques, principles, and theory and may support the supervisor in running the day-to-day operations of the histology department. You Will: Level I Embed, cut, and stain tissue blocks according to designated procedures Maintains productivity standards Microtomy 20 blocks/hour Embedding 50 blocks/hour Prepare reagents and stains according to designated procedures Submit derms and one-steppers & provide backup for Grossing Tech when needed Learn and maintain knowledge of current CAP requirements Assist in maintaining equipment, instruments, and supplies as needed Perform or assist with advanced staining & with validation studies Assist in operational oversight At Level II Perform at level I and reflect to perform with at higher volume and perform advanced staining Perform or assist with validation studies Assist in operational oversight Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications Level I Education/Certifications Associate's degree in science and HT ASCP registry eligible, and documentation of on the job training (OJT) Go to ASCP website to learn more, per CAP accreditation/regulation, for more information on HT eligibility OR Preferred, Bachelor's degree in science and HTL ASCP registry eligible, and documentation of on OJT Level II Education/Certifications Undergrad degree in science HTL ASCP certification- active and in good standing Skills & Abilities: Level I Previous laboratory experience Knowledge of medical terminology Ability to use a computer. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Level II Minimum two years of laboratory experience required, experience in histology type specimens preferred Possess all skills & abilities, as stated in level I Pay Range: $24.51 - $38.30 USD Hourly (commensurate expereince- the level hired depends on availability of level and proof of meeting certification/education requirements along with resume disclosing experience.) The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
