  • Hourly Range: $20.00 - $28.00 (Determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant. A 15% salary uplift is provided on top of base salary for positions that are worked in New York City or San Francisco, which is subject to change depending on market conditions.)

Overview:

Bechtel has a strong tradition of technical and engineering excellence in supporting multiple industries. Bechtel's internship program was created to cultivate real-life industry interest based on hands-on experience. Many new university graduate hires began their careers at Bechtel as a student intern.

Each year, we hire numerous Interns. The total number of hires and start dates are subject to workload and business conditions. Locations will vary based on project needs, and may include Houston, TX, Glendale, AZ, and Reston, VA, along with various project sites.

Job Summary:

Corporate security interns will provide security services and technical assistance to assigned project, jobsite, office, or functional/services unit activities. Assists in managing protection programs and complying with specific governmental standards and/or regulatory requirements. Assists in developing and providing security master plans, security criteria, and technical information to assigned project, jobsite, office, or functional/services unit. Maintains and communicates effective working relationships with assigned projects. Helps advise Security and project management concerning security program progress, problem areas, and remedial actions.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Helps conduct security surveys and audits to ensure compliance with security programs; helps identify and report discrepancies and may recommend corrective actions through appropriate reporting relationships. Informs immediate supervisors of the status of the security program and problem areas and may provide recommendations for remedial action.

  • Assists in the implementation of company procedures for guarding internal security data to meet the standards and regulatory requirements specified by government contracts. Helps administer security activities related to securing and controlling Bechtel and client proprietary information, including maintenance of security-related logs, registers, files, records, and reports.

  • Helps develop security guard instructions, security/emergency plans, security guard contracts, and other documents pertaining to the physical security of the jobsite or office.

  • Assists with the preparation and distribution of security plans, reports, studies and surveys, as requested. Assists in preparing and coordinating emergency planning, programs, and procedures with project, jobsite, or office management.

  • Assists project teams in incorporating security technology and measures into the design and construction of facilities by identifying and interpreting specific standards and regulatory requirements pertaining to the project(s).

  • Assists in the investigation of questionable activities, identify violations, and may recommend corrective action through responsible supervision.

  • Assists in the preparation of security presentations for management and clients explaining the project, jobsite, office, or functional/services unit’s physical and procedural safeguards.

  • May assist business development staff in preparing the security portion of business proposals, to include security requirements, scope of security services and cost estimates.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a four-year accredited degree program in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or Psychology from an accredited college or University.

  • Completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in one of the above fields.

  • Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver persuasive and well-organized ideas in both written and verbal form.

  • Professional proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
