Job Profile Title: Workcell Manager

Location/Division Specific Information – Richardson , TX

How will you make an impact? -

Drive the team to exceed customer expectations. Decisions will be based on the continuous improvement of Operational metrics in three key areas; Quality, On-time delivery, and Material management to maximize profitability within the business unit. In addition, you will provide exceptional communication and support to the customer, functional managers, team members, and various stakeholders.

What will you do?

Leadership Management Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate the Workcell team consisting of engineering, test, quality, and direct staff that will support the customer/product requirements.

  • Identify, recognize, and action continuous improvements to processes and personnel by providing a communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information with the workcell

  • Establish clear measurable goals and objectives to determine individual and team results based on predetermined KPI’s (i.e. operational metrics, results against project timelines, knowledge of operational roles and responsibilities, personal development goals)

  • Provide ongoing feedback to Functional Managers on team members’ contribution to the Workcell

  • Review all internal and external business plans, process changes, and personnel changes related to Workcell; Influence win/win outcome on unreasonable demands and bad plans

  • Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style

  • Assess communication styles of individual team members and adapt personal communication style accordingly

  • Act as a communication link between the Business Unit and Operations Unit

Functional Management Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of the Functional business strategies as they pertain to the Campus strategic direction with a focus on supporting the workcell/customer

  • Provide regular updates to the Functional Managers, Business Unit Manager, and Operations Manager on the strategy's execution, and communicate resource requirements to Function Managers

  • Identify capital and capacity resource requirements that meet the needs of the workcell and the customer/product (i.e. machines, lines, visuals)

  • Develop the monthly business unit forecast with the Business Unit Manager

  • Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems)

  • Utilzing trend assessments and analysis, create timely workcell forecast with the understanding of Planned vs. Actual output and communicate results to the Functional Managers, Business Unit Manager, and Operations Manager

Technical Management Responsibilities

  • Train the workcell teams on the validity of management by metrics and with the team monitor all workcell metrics.

  • Drive continuous improvement through trend reporting analysis and metrics management

  • Assure procedures and work instructions are Lean and efficient

  • Demonstrate a commitment to customer service; anticipate, meet, and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively; making customer issues a priority

  • Exchange knowledge and information with other Jabil facilities to ensure best practices are shared throughout the Jabil organization

  • Ensure all sensitive and confidential information is handled appropriately

  • Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor

How will you get here?-

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Science, or Operations management

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of supervisory management experience

  • 10 + years of an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and communicate regarding common scientific and/or technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community

  • Ability to effectively present information to functional managers, Business Unit Manager, and Operations Manager

  • Knowledge of Electro-mechanical manufacturing and/ or automation

  • Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil’s software packages

  • Strong understanding of mathematical calculations and interpretations of KPI metrics

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Specific vision requirements include reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen frequently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASCM CPIM Certification

  • LEAN or Six Sigma Certification

  • PMP Certification

  • Program or Project Management training
