Summary
Product Safety Compliance Engineer responsible for developing a checklist related to safety standards and conducting preliminary testing, providing feedback to comply the standard in the product development stage as well as supporting the acquisition of international safety certification for the product. There will be some travel.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
Develop a checklist related to safety standards (UL/IEC 60950-1 and 62368-1) and conducting preliminary testing, providing feedback to comply the standard in the product development stage
Perform Safety assessments for proposed design changes and provide design recommendations to R&D engineers and management
Develop formal certification and pre-compliance test plans for product safety standard
Validate and prepare IT/Network products to ensure compliance with the applicable product-safety (UL/IEC 60950-1 and 62368-1) and certifications
Apply and prepare for global certification applications, and resolve issues of ongoing compliance efforts, and work closely with hardware design teams
Interact with external certifying agencies during the creation and maintenance of UL Files, CB Scheme and CE Marking Technical Files.
Follow revision of applicable standards and certification requirements to ensure all designs and products are compliant at any time
Assist in certificate factory audits to ensure company is compliant with follow-up services and inspections.
Travel as necessary to aid in program facilitation (20%).
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

5+ years of experience in a Product Safety Compliance role
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
Knowledge and experience of materials utilized in computer/server, electrical, and mechanical manufacturing environments
Technical background and knowledge of the Product Safety procedures/standards
Have knowledge of product safety certification (e.g., NRTL, CB Scheme, etc.).
Experience working with third party test houses (UL, CSA, ITS etc.)
Experience with global regulatory certification requirements and processes, specifically U.S., Asia, and Europe.
Works effectively across organizations to achieve company goals and objectives
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to work independently, self-motivated and well-organized.
Physical Demands
Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
Occasional travel may be required.
Typical Experience
- 5+ years of related experience;Experience in similar job roles
Typical Education
Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic engineering.
