Job Title: Quantum Hardware Design EngineerJob Description

Join our team to accelerate the delivery of useful quantum computers. We are looking for talented and focused individuals to help bridge the gap between experimental qubit design, fabrication, and measurement with architecture, software, and systems integration teams. You will work in a dynamic, start-up-like environment to advance quantum computing technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Research and describe key aspects of qubit and component technologies.

  • Propose, design, and simulate novel approaches to qubits and qubit gates.

  • Interface with modeling, fabrication, measurement hardware, and systems teams to accelerate quantum computer subsystems and products.

  • Build cryogenic testing systems for solid-state qubits and measure solid-state qubits.

  • Design and model multiple qubit and quantum gate approaches, applying knowledge to create novel quantum plane architectures.

  • Monitor and understand technology trends relevant to quantum computing.

  • Serve as a bridge between teams to accelerate the product roadmap for quantum computers.

  • Evaluate factors such as reporting formats, cost, schedule constraints, and security needs for product roadmaps.

Essential Skills

  • PhD in Physics, Quantum Information Science, or a related discipline with 2 years of experience.

  • Experience building cryogenic experiments and measuring solid-state qubits.

  • Deep practical knowledge of solid-state semiconductor and/or superconducting device physics for quantum computer development.

  • Knowledge of solid-state quantum computer control and architectures.

  • Ability to tie scientific progress to product acceleration timelines.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work in a fast-moving environment with geographically separated team members.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (25%).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 10 years of overall experience in the field.

  • Proficiency in Python, Mathematica, and PowerPoint with 8-10 years of experience.

Work Environment

The team manufactures and installs computer-related equipment and components. The work involves analyzing information to determine plan layouts, including types of computers and peripheral equipment modifications. The role includes researching, designing, developing, and testing computer or computer-related equipment for various uses. The work environment is fast-paced and may require travel for program activities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $95.00/hr.
