The Boeing Company is seeking an Experienced Test & Evaluation Engineer to join the Boeing Test & Evaluation team, working in the Metrology and Test Equipment Services (MATES) group in Renton, WA .

The selected candidate will join a geographically dispersed and multidisciplinary metrology engineering team that is responsible for developing and supporting measurement solutions in support of advanced manufacturing, airplane production, and test & evaluation activities. This job is primarily to develop and implement shipside Measurement & Test Equipment (M&TE) calibration and verification to improve airplane build process quality as well as supporting local metrology engineering teams. This role requires coordination with people in various time zones across the US and with all Boeing business units, including Boeing Commercial Air (BCA), Boeing Defense & Space (BDS), ET&T primarily.

Traditional Engineering skills will be used to improve the development and deployment of engineering processing, software and tools, mathematical models, and the general aggregation and dissemination of enterprise wide measurement solutions to support all of Boeing.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage the procurement and implementation of calibration and verification equipment in fabrication and factory work spaces

  • Develop solutions to calibration systems problems of moderate scope and impact

  • Make routine contacts with customers to ensure shipside calibration and verification solutions meet requirements

  • Utilize appropriate tools, processes, and procedures

  • Assist with the design of calibration systems, focusing on shipside verification of multiple measurement parameters

  • Aid in the development of data processing tools and algorithms

  • Measurement uncertainty evaluation and equipment service interval analysis

  • Develop project plans using the principles of project management and performance goals

  • Gather and analyze requirements for measurement and test equipment calibration

  • Aid with the calibration and certification of tools and measurement and test equipment

  • Support maintenance of the calibration system

  • Support maintenance of reference standards traceability, calibration procedures and software

  • Develop solutions to emergent requirements during day-to-day activities

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Experience with project management

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience in Metrology and/or measurement science

  • Experience building relationships with internal and/or external customers

  • Experience in fault diagnosis, repair and calibration of complex automatic test stations

  • 3+ years Project management experience

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $102,000 – $138,000
