Looking for a new Patient Access Team Member to support HOPES expansion!

The purpose of theReferral Specialistis to support patients and staff in the coordination of care to outside specialty offices and services.

TheReferral Specialistassists the clinical process by ensuring prior-authorizations and referrals occur in a way that expedites the patient's care. A Referral Specialist processes referral, makes and answers patient and specialty office phone calls, assisting and directing callers to successfully complete their referrals as ordered by their Provider. This role provides linkage between clinical services and external specialty services.

We are a National Health Service Corp site, and our providers are eligible to apply toward a federal NHSC Loan Repayment Program.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English peferred.
  • Experience utilizing busy phones and multi-tasking required.
  • Computer literate with experience utilizing an Electronic Medical Record required.
  • Proven ability to maintain professional conduct, including appropriate boundaries, required.
  • Able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with all team members required.
  • Able to communicate and listen effectively required.
  • Knowledge of ambulatory/outpatient care environment and clinical workflow processes preferred.
  • Understanding of insurance requirements and referral, imagining, prior authorization and medication refill processes preferred.
  • Formal training in a Medical Assistant Program with one or more years functioning in that role preferred.
