SUMMARY:

The City of Reno Housing and Neighborhood Development Division is seeking a dynamic and organized individual to serve as the Love Your Block Fellow. The Love Your Block Program is a high-impact service strategy that connects city leaders with community residents to help revitalize their neighborhoods one block at a time. The ideal candidate in this position will play a pivotal role in supporting the successful implementation of Love Your Block grant projects by overseeing project management activities and tracking project metrics to measure impact and outcomes.

MINIMUM/PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Combinations of education and experience that are equivalent to the following minimum qualifications are acceptable.

Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in urban planning, public administration, business administrations, social work or a related field is preferred.

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in project management, community development, or a related field is preferred.

Required Licenses or Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license or otherwise demonstrate the ability to independently get to and from multiple work locations as required.

COMPETENCIES These are reflective of the KSAs an individual would possess at the full-functioning level.

Knowledge of:

  • Community ties and have a track record of building local relationships.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Data collection, analysis, and reporting, preferably in a community development or nonprofit setting is preferred.
  • Project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Grant management and compliance requirements.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

Ability to:

Coordinate and participate in the community development programs.

Understand the organization and operation of the City and of outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities.

Understand, interpret, and apply administrative and departmental policies and procedures as well as pertinent laws, regulations, and ordinances.

Recommend and implement goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for assigned programs.

Participate in the development and administration of goals, objectives, and procedures.

Select, train, and evaluate assigned staff.

Collect, evaluate, and interpret varied information, data, and reports.

Understand, interpret, and apply general and specific administrative and departmental policies and procedures as well as applicable Reno Municipal Code, federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations.

Effectively represent the City to outside individuals and agencies to accomplish the goals and objectives of the unit.

Work cooperatively with other departments, City officials, and outside agencies.

Respond tactfully, clearly, concisely, and appropriately to inquiries from the public, City staff, or other agencies on sensitive issues in area of responsibility.

Operate office equipment including computers and supporting word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

Provide effective and efficient customer service.

Prepare clear and concise reports.

Participate in the preparation and administration of assigned budgets.

Work in a team-based environment to ac ieve common goals.

Coordinate multiple projects and complex tasks simultaneously.

Meet the physical requirements to safely and effectively perform the assigned duties.
