Jostens College Area Sales Manager - West Region in Remote, United States

COLLEGE AREA SLAES MANAGER - WEST REGION

TERRITORY COVERAGE: This role oversees sales operations across the Western U.S., including all states west of Minnesota, the Dakotas, Nebraska, Colorado, and New Mexico.

EXPECTED % OF OVERNIGHT TRAVEL: Approximately 70%

As the College Area Sales Manager, you'll oversee the west region territory and guide a team of top-performing Territory Sales Representatives. YOU HAVE:

  • Passion. Demonstrated ability to strategically manage in a performance and results-based culture.

  • Technical skills. 5+ plus years’ experience as a sales representative (professional, independent experience in sales support such as marketing, consulting or appropriate program-based experience may be considered as substitute for the sales representative experience).

  • Leadership. Experience and demonstrated success in selection and development of talent.

  • Great communication skills. Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Strong organizational skills

  • Data analytics. Experience with management reports/sales tracking and using market and financial data to understand trends and drive results.

  • Experience. 4 years in a management role with demonstrated successful leadership.

  • Education. Four-year college degree in business or a related field.

  • Preferred: Sales Management experience, Industry-specific experience, Experience managing multi-state or large geographic territory with remote direct reports. Consultative and Educational Sales background.

    YOU WILL:

    Drive Profitable Sales, Sustained Growth, and Provide Team Leadership

  • Meet sales targets for revenue (Delivered Volume) and profitability (EBITDA).

  • Implement marketing strategies

  • Develop and maintain customer satisfaction throughout area; handle customer issues/problems with accounts

  • Compete intentionally, aggressively, and effectively

  • Personally deliver presentations and sell in key accounts

  • Develop field sales action plans to uncover, develop and secure new business opportunities

  • Prioritize initiatives to maximize effectiveness

  • Develop annual sales expense budgets, with appropriate controls for P&L management

  • Participate on business and project teams as assigned

  • Contribute to developing and implementing new products and service introductions, sales compensation plans and sales support strategies

    Oversee Territory/Market Analysis, Planning and Salesforce Effectiveness

  • Ensure full engagement with and effective use of Salesforce.com as the central tool for business activity and execution of initiatives.

  • Ensure event profitability and appropriate level of staffing by working with Reps and Service Team Manager

  • Analyze sales data; summarize sales and customer data for management

  • Implement effective sales coverage and territory alignment plans

  • Forecast future sales for Area

  • Implement and monitor territory planning throughout the sales Area

  • Understand competition and B2B partners, and implement competitive selling strategies

  • Advise on market needs, products and new opportunity development

  • Recruit, train, develop and retain key sales force talent.

  • Establish and reinforce performance standards; provide performance feedback; deal with performance deficiencies in a timely and effective manner

  • Communicate variety of information with sales reps

  • Implement compensation/incentive plans for reps

  • Make sales calls with reps; coach for continuous improvement

  • Implement human resource plan for region

    Own Financial/Administrative Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to business policies and manage the sales expense budget.

  • Effectively manage sales support dollars in alignment with company objectives

  • Track and maintain area records/report results

  • Partner effectively with the sales support functional teams

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage 10 Territory Sales Reps.

  • Make key decisions on hiring, promotions, pay, and discipline.

  • Set clear expectations and support team performance through regular feedback and development.

  • Address skill gaps and succession planning proactively.

  • Ensure fair application of company policies, working closely with HR on compliance and best practices.

    Typical/expected % of overnight travel: Approximately 70%

  • We believe in pay transparency. The salary range is $115K to $130K with annual bonus eligibility. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
